Professor Ademola Abayomi Olaitan, a Prince from Oyefi Ruling Dynasty in Ede  was born to Prince Magbagbeola and Madam Morenike.  his elementary education was at the S.S Peter and Paul Catholic School, Ile Ife and NUD School, Ogbomoso.  Secondary and Higher School educations  were at the Baptist High School E and School of Basic Studies of the Polytechnic Ibadan as one of the pioneer Higher School Certificate candidates.  Admission and training as a member of the pioneer class of Dental intakes at the School of Dentistry of the College of Medicine of the University of Ibadan qualified him as a Dental Surgeon. With Postgraduate training at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan and the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Kaduna he qualified as a Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon having bagged the Postgraduate Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Dental Surgery (FMCDS) and the Postgraduate Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS). He had several Post Fellowship trainings and courses including Advanced Management Course at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, Topo Badagry. He is also a chartered member of the Nigeria Institute of Management and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administrators of Nigeria.

His surgical career started as a House Officer at the Dental Headquarters of the Oyo State Health Council Ibadan and National Youth Service with the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. With a brief post Youth Service employment at the Adeoyo State Hospital, Ibadan he proceeded to the UCH, Ibadan and subsequently to the ABUTH, Kaduna for specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. On completion of the specialist training, he commenced academic career as a Lecturer 1 with the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and advanced to the post of Senior Lecturer and moved to establish the Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the National Hospital, Abuja. Subsequently, he got appointed to the Chair of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Lagos State University College of Medicine.

Prof. Olaitan has over 70 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, has mentored scores of younger colleagues and supervised over 20 postgraduate dissertations He holds the Doctorate of Medicine (M.D) degree and was elected foundation Fellow of the Nigeria Academy of Medicine (FNAMed.).

Olamide Olaitan Memorial Orphanage and Medicare Foundation was established by his wife, Iyabode to cater for motherless children, widows and the less privileged in the community and co-managed by him and other members of the family

Ademola Olaitan is a member of several professional associations and societies and has served on the Executive Committees of some. He was Secretary of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), ABU Teaching Hospital chapter. He worked with others executive committee members to nurture the association to the extent that a national Vice President emerged from the chapter. As the first substantive President of the Nigerian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NAOMS) he took the association continental and global when he was elected the first President of the African Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AfAOMS) and African Regional Representative on the Executive Committee of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS).

Prof. Ademola Olaitan  served as Chairman of Governing Board, President of Senate and  President, National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria, Ijaniken, Lagos State.

Professor Olaitan is an excellent Table tennis and Chess player. He captained Baptist High School Ede in Table tennis. Apart from being the Chairman of the Kaduna State Chess Association at the Kaduna State Sports Council, he has represented Kaduna State in Chess tournament during one of the National Sports Festivals. He was a Federal Government scholar and his biography is cited in ‘Marquis Who is Who in the World’.
